Francesco Piemontesi
Francesco Piemontesi was born in 1983 in Locarno. He studied with Prof. Nora Doallo, gaining the Diploma from the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana. He is currently studying with Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hanover. Piemontesi is a prize-winner of numerous contests, including the Göttingen Chopin-Competition and the Seiler Piano Competition in Kitzingen. He was also selected to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Contest in Vienna and was finalist at the 21st Clara-Haskil-Competition in 2006. Piemontesi has taken part in masterclasses with Alexis Weissenberg, Homero Francesch and Bernd Glemser. He has performed widely throughout Europe, in Japan, Korea and in the USA. He has given concerts at festivals including the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdroy, the Septembre Musical de Montreux, the Orpheum Musiktage Zürich, the "Next Generation" in Dortmund, the Chamber Music Weeks at Schloss Elmau and in major concert halls, including the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Tonhalle Zürich, the Munich Philharmonic Hall, the Opéra de la Bastille in Paris and the Beethoven-Saal in Bonn. Francesco Piemontesi has performed with the Saarbrücken Radio-Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the Zurich and Lausanne Chamber Orchestras, the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and the European Strings. His work in the field of chamber music includes performances with Yuri Bashmet, Heinrich Schiff, Maria Kliegel, Anne Queffélec, the Sine Nomine Quartett and with members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He won the 3th Prize at the Concours Reine Elisabeth 2007 (Bruxelles).
