Nicolas Dorian
Born in 1986 in Brussels, Nicolas Dorian begins his musical journey at the age of four. At the age of nine, he takes his first classes of pop singing with Chantal Nicaise and joins the Belgian Boy’s Choir Les Pastoureaux where he approaches the sacred ant secular repertoire. At the age of eleven, he begins a classical vocal training with Benoît Giaux and starts singing in the baroque ensemble Laudantes under the direction of Guy Janssens. At the same times he studies classical piano, solfege and harmony. In 2000, with a new tenor voice, he joins the European Robert Schuman Choir. In 2001, he takes part to an Opera Master Class with the soprano Jeanette Thompson at the Summer Academy of Belgium. The same year, he stars singing pop and musical’s songs in a Brussel’s cabaret,"La Voix. In 2004, he enters the vocal section at the IMEP (Conservatoire) in Namur in the class of Benoît Giaux and Laure Delcampe. In the mean time, he takes part to three musicals as a singer and songwriter for L’Enfant des Etoiles, a Belgian association for childhood support. He also joins the choir Le Petit Sablon, under the direction of Thibaut Lenaerts, to sing French motets of the 17th century. He sings for several productions at the Grand Theatre of Verviers, like Cinemusic 2 and The Eighties. In 2007, he plays the role of Tony in Bernstein’s musical West Side Story in Brussels and the role of the Reverend Walters in Tom Sawyer, the new musical composed and directed by David Miller. Since 2005, he is also one of the six singers of the new Belgian vocal jazz group Witloof Bay.
