M. Argerich - A. Gurning

“To help young talented artists and make them known is an essential and integral part of my job. It will help them, I hope, to find a public sooner, and be required by agents and international concert promoters. The world is full of young people with talent and also of promoters able to support them in their legitimate and worthy right to perform. But, unfortunately, the actual establishment of the music world is too often phlegmatic and not disposed to run any risks. This is the reason why I am very grateful to dr. Gysi and my friend Guy Gremper for the enthusiasm with which they have supported and promoted the Project, and, of course, all the sponsors, whose contribution has made this festival possible”.
(Martha Argerich)

Alexandre Gurning was born in Brussels in 1973. He studied at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Nicole Henriot-Schweitzer and had advanced training with professors Naumov and Merzhanov at the Moscow Conservatory. He has participated in the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Chopin Festival in Duskniki-Zdroj (Poland), the Martha Argerich Meeting Point in Taipei (Taiwan) and in Beppu (Japan), the Obido Festival (Portugal) and in the International Piano Festival in La Roque d'Anthéron (France). Together with the Ensemble Soledad he made a CD for Virgin Records with tangos by Piazzolla and Stravinsky. He has also had the opportunity to play with Martha Argerich, Renaud Capuçon and Laurent Korcia.
