Marco Schiavon received a diploma from the “A. Steffani” Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto, where he studied with A. Pietrobon. He attended master classes with D. Dini Ciacci (at Follina and Belluno), H. Schellenberger (Fiesole) and F. Leleux (Petritoli). In 1999 he received a soloist’s diploma at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, where he studied with H. Elhors. From 1996 to 1998 he was principal oboe of the Italian Youth Orchestra, and he has played in the following orchestras: the Haydn (Bolzano), Filarmonia Veneta (Treviso), Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Verdi (Milan), Orchestra Regionale Toscana, Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Pomeriggi Musicali (Milan), Teatro Regio (Turin), Teatro Carlo Felice (Genoa), Orchestra da Camera di Padova e del Veneto, Arturo Toscanini (Parma), Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Filarmonica della Scala and Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala. He has played under such prestigious conductors as G. Sinopoli, L. Berio, E. Krivine, Lu Jia, F. Brüggen, P. Maag, J. Tate, K. Nagano, V. Gergiev, W. Sawallisch, M. Plasson, G. Bertini, S. Accardo, E. Inbal, G. Prêtre, R. Muti, D. Renzetti, N. Marriner, R. Frühbeck de Burgos and A. Lombard. He won first prizes at the Asti oboe competition, the Rosetum chamber music competition (Milan) and the Petritoli oboe competition (Ascoli Piceno). He has been principal oboe of the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana since 2004.
