Michael Guttman

 

The youngest violinist ever to be admitted to the Brussels Royal Conservatory, he later graduated from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Dorothy Delay, Felix Galimir and the Juilliard Quartet. An invited performer at festivals directed by Salvatore Accardo, Yuri Bashmet, Boris Berezovsky and Natalya Guttman, he has also been active as Music Director and conductor of the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra of the Music Festival of the Hamptons. As assistant director to the late Lukas Foss, he collaborated with Peter Serkin, James Galway, Richard Stolzman, Carol Wincenc and Stanley Drucker. As conductor, he has appeared with the Elba Festival Orchestra, a unique ensemble uniting the Kremerata Baltica, the Moscow Soloists, the Odessa Chamber Orchestra, as well as the Kiev Philharmonic. He has been invited to conduct and/or play by many orchestras across Europe and will appear with the Dallas Symphony. More highlights this season include appearances at the Gstaad Festival, at La Fenice in Venice, Salle Pleyel in Paris, and in Claudio Abbado’s Ferrara Musica. Mr. Guttman is the principal guest conductor of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra, the leader of the Arriaga String Quartet and of the Michael Guttman Tango Quartet, as well as Music Director of the festival Pietrasanta in Concerto, Italy.
