Elio Coria
Born in 1992 in Quilmes, Buenos Aires province, he began studying piano at the age of 8. He entered the Conservatorio Superior de Música in Buenos Aires and subsequently the IUNA (National Institute of Art University) when he was 14. After winning several prizes and scholarships he participated in a festival in Santa Catarina and the Festival Internacional de Invierno de Campos do Jordão in 2010, where he had the opportunity to study with Maria João Pires, Ricardo Castro, Fanny Solter, Richard Bishop and Sheila Arnold. He received a scholarship from the National Arts Fund which allowed him to continue his studies with Fernando Perez and Graciela Tarchini. In 2011, thanks to the Martha Argerich Presents Project he came to Lugano to receive lessons from Alan Weiss, Remo Remoli and Daniel Rivera, performing in the Progetto Martha Argerich. In October 2011 he won second prize at the Bienal Juvenil Competition and also performed in the prestigious Amijai Concert Hall in Buenos Aires, in the first concert showcasing fellows of the MAPP. Thanks to a scholarship granted by Martha Argerich, he has been able to come to Italy to work under the guidance of Daniel Rivera, with whom he will continue his studies, benefiting also from a “Teresa Grüneisen” scholarship from the Mozarteum Argentino.
