Andrei Pushkarev

 

Andrei Pushkarev was born in 1974 in Kiev and began his piano studies at the Kiev Music School. Subsequently he studied percussion under Alexander Blinov at the Kiev Tchaikovsky National Conservatory. In 1995 he was awarded First Prize as solo vibraphonist in the New Names of Ukraine Competition and, between 1995-1999, he performed as solo vibraphonist with chamber ensembles throughout the Ukraine. Pushkarev joined the Kremerata Baltica Orchestra in 1999 with which he has performed in international concerts and recorded. The ensemble’s CD After Mozart received a Grammy Award (2001) and an Echo Award (2002). In summer 1999 he performed for the first time at the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus (Austria) and became a regular participant of this festival. Since 2003 he has as well made many arrangements for vibraphone and violin solo with and without chamber orchestra. He also records and performs with musicians such as Gidon Kremer, Yo Yo Ma, Yuri Bashmet, Yuri Temirkanov and Peter Sadlo. In 2004, he was awarded the Pro Europe Foundation Prize.
