Denis Kozhukhin
Born in Gorky, Russia, in 1986, Denis Kozhukhin was four years old when he received his earliest musical instruction from his parents. When he was eight, after having attended school in Zhavoronok he was admitted to the Balakirev Music School, where he studied with Natalia Fish. From 2000 to 2007 he studied with Dmitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez-Mehner at the Queen Sofia Music Academy in Madrid. He has won numerous prizes at important international competitions, including the Vendome Prize (first prize, 2009), the Tortona International Music Competition, the competition in memory of Sviatoslav Richter, the Alicia de Larrocha Competition in Andorra, the Leeds International Piano Competition and the Reuters Foundation Prize, the Belgian Queen Elisabeth Music Competition (1sr Prize, 2010). He has taken part in several festivals, such as the Progetto Martha Argerich, the Verbier Festival, the Andrei Sakharov International Art Festival in Nizhny-Novgorod and the Festival Paloma O’Shea in Santander, Spain, as well as a series of concerts at the Louvre in Paris. Queen Sofia of Spain gave him an honorable mention diploma as best student of the year, and his Cervantes Trio twice received a prize as the academy’s best chamber music group. Denis Kozhukhin is the beneficiary of a scholarship from BSI SA, Lugano.
