Walter Delahunt
Born in Wolfville, this Canadian native pianist is in great demand as a chamber musician and has performed with some of the world’s leading artists including Zara Nelsova, Gidon Kremer, Karl Leister, Ida Haendel, Truls Mörk und Martha Argerich. Walter Delahunt is a regular guest of the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Series and many European chamber music festivals. He began his piano studies at the age of nine and went on to study with Felicia Kalejs at Acadia University in his hometown. In 1978 he graduated from the University of Toronto and was awarded the W. O. Forsyth Prize for outstanding performance. He has taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the Banff School of Fine Arts, the McGill University and the Vienna Academy of Music. He was nominated for two Grammy awards in 2006 and has recorded for BMG, Panton and EMI.
