Manuel Infante

Andalusian Dances

Manuel Infante was born in Seville in 1883 and completed his musical studies in Paris, which he made his base and where he was active as composer and conductor until his death there in 1958. His piano works became very popular, thanks in particular to the Spanish pianist José Iturbi, who often played them. Many of these compositions were inspired by Iberian folk music but reworked with rich colours and great instrumental brilliance. This is the case of the three evocative Andalusian Dances (“Rhythm”, “Feeling” and “Grace”) for two pianos, which date from 1921.
