| In 2010 and 2011, the biggest anti-mafia operation to date resulted in the arrest of more than 350 criminals worldwide and revealed a disturbing situation.
The key episode of the investigation took place on 2 September 2009, when, at the sanctuary of Polsi in Calabria, the Italian carabinieri filmed senior members of the ‘Ndrangheta gathered beneath the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary to appoint Mico Oppesidano as their new leader. The report makes disturbing revelations about the activities of this powerful mafia organization in Switzerland and Germany, with its conspiracy of silence and warring factions, and the worrying passivity of the authorities in dealing with the threat it poses. |
