| The series is divided into six distinct episodes, set in Ticino. Each episode tells a story that for its own particular message, be it humane, social or emotional, reminds of a real life news story. The principal observer of these events is Gim, played by the famous Italian actor Renato de Carmine. Gim is a retired journalist who is unable to forget the people and stories he reported on in the many years of his career as a news reporter. Gim has never done anything else. He has never married or had children. He has never kept dogs or cats. His life has always been lived through others, and Gim is always looking for a cue, an excuse, to go and deal with an old news story. Gim's recollections reveal his great consideration for the protagonists of those stories. A sensitive, discrete journalist, Gim sometimes tries to understand the motivation behind certain actions, but with no attempt at judgement and no prejudice. To direct the six films, six Swiss film directors were called upon, namely Fulvio Bernasconi, Andrea Canetta, Bianca Conti Rossini, Massimo Donati, Mihàly Györik and Silvio Soldini. The script was written by Antoine Jaccoud. |
