| The cantonal police of Ticino, in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, have created a special unit to deal with delicate operations arising from new types of crimes. It is called the Mobile Security Unit. Its night patrol consists of an apparently ill-matched team: Sergent Savino, a veteran policeman, tired and occasionally somewhat a grumbler and Natalia, a young trainee. Savino is in his fifties and is unmistakably well-experienced. The young trainee lacks experience and, what is worse, at times questions her decision, as a single mother, to attend the police academy as a diversion from her unsettled lifestyle. This particular night allows no time for moaning or for regrets; a babysitter has been reported missing, along with the child in her care. Where is she now? What really happened? And who was the girl who was probably far too young to deal with the difficulties of marital crises? The mother does not know anything. The father, who suffers from depression, cannot be located. The night patrol has until dawn to try to find these people. The night is theirs, after that they cannot do anything, for anyone. |
